COLT 1860 ARMY REVOLVER - ANTIQUE COLT - Lot #4745

This is a sharp and crisp example of a standard issue Colt 1860 Army Revolver in 44 caliber percussion that was issued during the Civil War and then re-issued in batches of mixed-parts guns bearing the large "US" stamping on its trigger-guard. The gun shows use and wear but is generally good with the slightest trace of original military blue in the barrel flutes. It shows almost all of a nice cylinder scene, has a crisp action and decent, full grips that show no remnants of a cartouche. (These had no secondary cartouches as did the Single-action Artillery models). These guns with the US stamping on the triggerguard are written up as having been issued to the 10th Cavalry serving in Texas after the Civil War.
