CONFEDERATE KERR CIVIL WAR REVOLVER - Lot #4340

This is an outstanding condition Kerr Revolver purchased and issued to Confederate forces during the Civil War. With the outbreak of the American Civil War, Confederate Arms Purchaser Caleb Huse contracted with the London Armory Company to produce all of the Kerr’s Patent revolvers that they could for delivery to the Confederacy. It is believed that all of the LAC’s output of Kerr revolvers from April of 1861 on (about 9,000 pistols) were acquired under this contract and shipped to Southern ports. This example is in extremely fine condition for this model retaining about 30% original blue scattered about its metal surfaces and blending with a deep, rich patina. The grips retain all their varnish and sport a nice "JS & Anchor" cartouche, the marking associated with Confederate ownership and issue. A great gun at a great price.
