WESSON & LEAVITT DRAGOON REVOLVER - Lot #4888

This is an extremely fine to excellent condition Wesson & Leavitt Dragoon Revolver manufactured by the Massachusetts Arms Company, 1850 - 1851. This 40 caliber revolver shows absolutely no evidence of ever being loaded much less fired, showing a flat mint bore and chambers retaining all of their original blue finish, as do the nipples and wells. The only wear on the gun are some flattening of the nipples and a ring-mark on the hammer face, obviously from dry firing. The grips on the gun show numerous minor handling marks, obviously evidence that former owners spent a lot of time admiring this gun and its condition. The metal parts on the gun are excellent, and they show generous amounts of original finish fading to an untouched patina, with more finish on the right hand side of the gun than the left. A truly wonderful candidate for any collector of this model or for those who collect secondary Martial Revolvers..
