COLT PATERSON CARBINE - Lot #4530

One of the rarest of all Colt Firearms is the Paterson Carbine with prox. 950 produced. 150 such guns were issued to the Republic of Texas. This is a very nice and much better than average example with all metal parts relatively smooth and in a soft brown patina safe for the slightest trace of blue under the wedge on the left side of the barrel. Barrel address on the left side is 100% sharp and strong, "Patent Arms M'g Co. Paterson, N. J. - Colt's Pt.". Cylinder retains traces of scene with "Colt's Patent" visible. All matching serial numbers and mechanically fine. The wood is in very fine condition with varnish or linseed oil finish on 80% of the stock and worn off at the wrist from use. There appears to be a cartouche on the right side of the stock but it is not discernible and I doubt it to be a government mark. If it were to be so, the gun would be worth $35,000.00. This is a really strong example of a very rare with possible Texas association as most of these didn't sit around someone's fireplace. They were where the action was.
