This is a wonderful little pair of Indian Wars period Officers Spurs, cased in their original form fitted leatherette case with felt interior. Patented in 1881, these would have been used on the frontiers during the 1880's at the height of the Plains Indian Wars against the Sioux & Cheyenne as well as the Southern fights in Texas and the Arizona Territory against the Apache and Commanche. The case retains its original ribbon makers label of "Thomson't Screw Spur" inside the lid. Each spur shows hand chase-work and gold gilt body with steel rowels and they are in excellent condition showing very little wear and almost 100% of their gilt. The interior of the case is excellent and the exterior shows wear and slight damage to the leather that appears to have been taped shut at one time, the removal of which has left a pattern of slight leather damage on the top and bottom. Still, a wonderful, seldom seen pair of bonafide Indian Wars War spurs that are in nice shape and they certainly would make a nice addition to any display.
