SPRINGFIELD ARMS COMPANY POCKET REVOLVER, HISTORICALLY INSCRIBED - Lot #3412

This is an untouched, "in-the-black" revolver with a fine inscription on the left frame that reads, "Z. T. Tibbatts to Chas. W. Litherbury, Dec. 1st, '63". I have found that both of these men were officers in the Union Navy during the Civil War and the gun was obviously a gift or token of respect given by Tibbatts. The arbor is a period replacement and the loading gate is missing. These parts can be found on one of these guns in lesser condition that can probably be found for a couple hundreds dollars. You can then sell the lesser gun at close to what you shelled out. The result would be a fine, historically inscribed Civil War revolver at a low cost basis and I have never seen this model with an inscription. It would be a great addition for any collector that is trying to find an inscribed specimen of each model.
