Here's a really great Colt and as rare as can be. This is an early Colt Open-Top in a factory Case and sporting factory Pearl Grips. It has the rare and early 7 & 1/2" barrel as well as Navy sized grips. On top of that, it's inscribed and identified and the combination of features is awesome. The butt is inscribed, "Miguel Fernandez, Brownsville". If you're from Texas, does it get much better than this? I also have a notarized letter of provenance from the direct descendent who inherited this fine revolver. This gun has 95%+ original nickel on its frame and barrel and about 70% on the cylinder, the back side being flaked from age and laying in the cased and now a very dark brown patina. Miguel Fernandez and his family immigrated to New York from Spain in the 1850's and migrated down to Brownsville, Texas where they started and owned one of the largest cattle rendering facilities in the south, supplying beef, leather hides and other by-products to the South and during the Civil War, large quantities of beef to the Union Army. They also had a ranch and other businesses. One of their original buildings still stands in Brownsville and is now an antique mall. More information upon request.
