This is a world-class cased set. The gun is excellent to near mint, retaining 94 - 98% original blue and case-hardening colors on all appropriate parts. Grips and shoulder stock retain 99% original varnish (with the exception of the ss yolk wear from the top of the grips)and mounts nearly all their silver. Accessories are fine to excellent. The gun is Hartford manufactured and shipped to London (proofed) and awarded as follows on the back-strap; "Prize - Presented to R. Key Esq. / by the Inventor / Jan. 16th, 1861". This is a museum quality gun and this exact, unaltered set is pictured on pp. 128 - 129 of, "SAMUEL COLT PRESENTS" BY THE WADSWORTH ANTHENEUM. This well-known book was a picture and informative compilation of the finest Colt Presentation Revolvers ever assembled for display at one time that occured at the famous Antheneum in Hartford. Colt presentations are rare as are stocked Navies. Complete, matching sets are extremely rare and only a handfull are known as cased and original. This set may offer a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to own one. Hands down, one of the rarest and best sets extant.
