This is an extremely fine 2nd Model with generous amounts of blue scattered in protected areas about the barrel. The balance of the gun is a deep, rich, blue-brown patina. The scene, edges, markings, action, grips and cartouches are excellent. This is an early 2nd, with v-shaped mainspring. Worthy of a fine Colt collection, this fine 44 surely saw action during the Civil War and was issued to the U.S. mounted Rifles prior to the conflict. It could have been used by Northern or Southern Troops.
