Here is an extremely rare and 100% original antique revolver case (revolver not included) that appears to perfectly fit only a few types few guns. It will handily take a Remington Beals or Whitney Navy Revolver, but I'm sure it was originally built for a Beals Army ( I don't have one to try it, but I believe it will fit perfectly). This is a wonderful little pair of British muff pistols with screw-off barrels made by Thomas Hutchinson of London, who was a premier gunmaker of the early 1800's. Hutchinson is well noted as teaching a young James Purdy the unmaking trade that later flourished into the famed Purdy Firearms that are so popular today. At first glance, many Confederate purists may shout down any claim that this is a Confederate weapon, but I tend to put more stock into bonafide documentation than most. Nearly the entire production of Kerr Revolvers are getting credit for being Confederate, based on either Pratt's Squad Roll of Kerr's being issued to his Company "H" of the 18th Virginia Cavalry, or the fact that many documented specimens are marked with a "JS and anchor" on the grips. In very fine condition, this Aston is fully martially marked to include the barrel, sideplate, backstrap and 2 cartouches on the wood including the primary WAT. The metal is in a soft grey patina with some minor roughness about the nipple bolster. CLICK HERE FOR ADDITIONAL PHOTOS AND INFORMATION

The Hamilton Pistols presented in this lot are the only Founding Father pistols known with family documentation in the form of a signed receipt, as well as a notarized unbroken chain of ownership from the Hamilton Family that documents Alexanders initial acquisition of them during the Revolutionary War, through their sale in 1942.
