ANTIQUE GUN - SPRINGFIELD MODEL 1855 PISTOL CARBINE. - Lot #3274

This is a very nice, untouched pistol carbine dated 1856. The gun is very lightly stamped #15 on the butt, but I can't for the life of me find a number anywhere on the metal of the stock. The cartouche is present opposite the lock, but very faint. After a few phone calls (I have only had 4 of these) the light stampings of some of the aforementioned marks is not unusual. Judging by the condition, the stock and pistol have been together forever as their condition matches perfectly. The metal, wood, edges, action and all other markings are sharp and crisp. The stock fits with a wobble to the pistol due to wear of both the latch and the mounts in the gun-butt, also not unusual. There is almost no corrosion on this set. They are in great condition with just a very light brown haze to the metal surfaces and just a bit of roughness about the nipple. This is a great, untouched set and if it doesn't sell, I'm keeping it to display with my shoulder-stocked Colts.
