This is an unissued pair of Pommel Holsters that date from 1830 - 1850. They were designed for single-shot pistols but could certainly handle a pair of Colt Dragoons as seen in the photos. You can tell by the color and condition of the interior leather that this rig was never placed on a horse as the leather is in extremely fine condition. They would have been near mint if not for poor storage. They are dirty and missing a plug-cap on one body. The trim is similar to an embroidered silver bullion ribbon and each holster shows a tear in this trim that can and should be addressed. If you know how to clean and care for leather, these could be brought back to a state of world-class type artifact and they are rare in this configuration.
