BRITISH WEBLEY REVOLVER, CONFEDERATE ISSUE. - Lot #bt2

At first glance, many Confederate purists may shout down any claim that this is a Confederate weapon, but I tend to put more stock into bonafide documentation than most. Nearly the entire production of Kerr Revolvers are getting credit for being Confederate, based on either Pratt's Squad Roll of Kerr's being issued to his Company "H" of the 18th Virginia Cavalry, or the fact that many documented specimens are marked with a "JS and anchor" on the grips. There is absolutely no proof that JS and anchor marked guns were all used by the Confederacy, but the Pratt list leaves no doubt that many Kerr's in the documented range are DEFINATELY CONFEDERATE. Well, this very good and sound condition Webley falls right in between two other Webleys by serial number ON PRATT'S SQUAD LIST, and in addition, is marked on the top strap "Bentley" as are the two on the list. It has the look, smell, taste, and feel of Confederate, and falls within a documented range unlike most of the Kerrs. It's a great gun supported by facts, not rumor and hope.
