COLT DRAGOON REVOLVER, SECOND MODEL - Lot #4479

2nd Model Colt Dragoon Revolvers were manufactured in much smaller quantities than the firsts or thirds, prox. 2,700 total. Even so, they can sometimes be found in very fine condition and it is thought that many were issued to State Militia rather than regular Army, limiting their use. They are distinguished from the 1st and 3rd by their square-backed trigger-guards and rectangular cylinder stops. This fully Martially marked Colt Revolver shows primarily grey patina on metal surfaces with traces of blue in the protected areas of its barrel. The cylinder retains a beautiful, 100% cylinder scene and traces of pins. The grips are full with visible cartouches on each side. Markings, edges and action are excellent. This is a very sharp, crisp Colt Dragoon Revolver in the 9,000 range.
