This is a very good condition and standard configuration Kenansville enlisted-man's cavalry saber. Based on the number of surviving examples, the Kenansville or Confederate States Armory in North Carolina was probably one of the top two makers of cavalry sabers in the Confederacy. This is a fairly good condition small-frame Volcanic Pistol with a factory engraved brass frame. It was obviously found in rusty condition as someone has sanded the barrel to bright, removing almost all of the barrel address and exposing some pitting. This is a great condition CDV close-up of the famed "Driving the Golden Spike" scene taken at Promontory Point, Utah when the Union and Central Pacific Railroads finally met each other, completing the Trans-Continental Railroad on May 10, 1869.
