CASED CIVIL WAR OFFICERS SPURS - Lot #4877

Fine pairs of Civil War Eagle-head spurs are one of the most attractive and sought after of Civil War Artifacts. To find a "cased" pair is just about impossible, with only a handful known to exist. This set retains about 75 - 80% of their original gold gilt finish, their original boot straps and their heel chains. The case is form-fitted to include a chain channel. The inside of the case lid is clearly gold embossed with the maker mark of "SCHUYLER HARTLEY & GRAHAM, 9 MAIDEN LANE, N. Y.", and the lid retains traces of a gold gilt presentation. I am in the process of purchasing a strong black light system to see if it will bring out the exact presentation by detecting either gold-gilt or glue residue. I collect spurs personally and have an ID'd pair of this pattern that are identified, or I'd be keeping this pair. PLEASE NOTE that I am looking for any cased sets such as these that are identified or in nearly new condition for my personal collection. They can be gold gilt or solid silver or gold (yes, they did make solid gold spurs as I have a pair from the Mexican War), and I'll pay top retail dollars for them as long as they are Officers grade and have a motif such as Eagle, Dolphin, Horse Head or other interesting motifs spanning the Revolutionary War to 1899.
