CIVIL WAR FIFE. OUTSTANDING, INSCRIBED & PRESENTATION GRADE - Lot #1011

This is a world-class Civil War instrument. The fife is a presentation grade, silver mounted piece with great inscription. It is adorned with a presentation and battle trophies as follows: Mouthpiece-"The Flower of Negley's Division" / "Presented to E.W.Jewell" / "Stone River, Tenn." / "Hoovers Gap" / "Elk River". Mid-panel- "By Co. C, 18th O.V.I.", "July 24th, 1863". 2nd mid-panel- "Crawfish Spring, Ga.". End Cap- "Davis Cross Roads, Ga.". Mouth-Cap- "Chickamauga, Ga." / "Chattanooga, Tenn."
