This is an outstanding condition Kerr Revolver purchased and issued to Confederate forces during the Civil War. With the outbreak of the American Civil War, Confederate Arms Purchaser Caleb Huse contracted with the London Armory Company to produce all of the Kerr’s Patent revolvers that they could for delivery to the Confederacy. CIVIL WAR COLT NAVY REVOLVER WITH ORIGINAL HOLSTER.
A Colt 1851 Navy that is still "in-the-black" and right out of the woods with its original holster. In the 127XXX range, it is suprisingly good condition showing good markings and edges but it's dirty and shows a thin film of rusty staining which I believe could be cleaned up pretty well. Colt Navy Revolvers that were military issue are one of the top-dog variations in Colt Collecting with only 2000 or so ordered and issued in the last half of the 1850's. Freeman Revolvers are considered by collectors as a secondary Martial Revolver as they were produced in 1863-64 with hopes of Government orders for an excellent solid-frame revolver.
